1. What factors will determine if my kitchen will be more or less expensive?

A lot of your expense will be in your cabinetry selection. This cost varies due to your choice of cabinet line (stock, semi-custom, or fully custom). Your selection of wood species (oak, cherry, maple, hickory) is also a variable. The accessories that you select for you cabinet design (large crown details, fluted columns, roll out shelves) can also have a large role in the cost of your project.

2. What factors will determine if my bathroom will be more or less expensive?

The first factor is the amount of labor that’s required. Another big portion of your budget will be spent on your cabinetry and plumbing fittings and fixtures selections.

3. In order to keep the cost down, what can I do?

Your product selections will be the big determining factor for the cost of your project. Ways that you can achieve lower costs is to use laminate countertops instead of Corian or granite, vinyl flooring instead of ceramic tile or wood and free standing appliances verses built-in. Many of these options will not only save you on materials, but also installation.

4. How much does a kitchen/bathroom remodeling project cost?

The cost of both a kitchen and bathroom can vary greatly depending on the product selections. An average kitchen will normally fall between the $25-40,000.00 range and a bathroom is generally between $9-15,000.00 installed.

5. Can you make any changes to the contract after signing?

As a rule of thumb we prefer having all product selections and design details complete when the contract is signed, but we do allow contract changes and additions.

6. Will you work with my builder?

The Jae Company currently works with many of the Central Ohio builders and contractors and we have the capacity to assist more.

7. Do you charge a retainer fee?

Typically we do not charge a retainer fee, however we do require the contract to be signed before we will release any design work.

8. What happens to the existing material being removed?

We will generally dispose of the materials for you, however we can try to preserve the materials for reuse. We recommend clarifying with us the materials that you would like to save prior to the removal phase. The removal phase of any project is messy and unpredictable we cannot guarantee that we will be able to save all materials.

9. On average, how long will the remodeling take?

The time frame for an average kitchen remodel is usually around the 6-8 week range where a bathroom is generally 4-6 weeks. All designs are unique and their time frames can vary tremendously. Ask your design consultant for a tentative schedule when the labor begins.

10. Do you resurface existing cabinets?

Unfortunately we do not resurface cabinetry, although there are companies that do provide this service. If resurfacing is the option that you are considering it is important to know that your door and drawer fronts are the only materials being replaced. The cabinet interior, shelves, drawer boxes and glides will remain the same, while your cabinet frame is stripped and re-stained. You end up paying approximately 65% of the cost you would have paid for all new cabinetry, but you still have the same existing cabinetry. For a little more you can have all new cabinetry.

11. Will you do work outside of the Central Ohio area?

The majority of our work is in the Central Ohio area, but it is not unusual for us to work outside the Central Ohio area.
